With the ambition to always be able to offer a technologically modern product to the customer, R. STAHL is a successful technological leader. This includes a structured planning process, an elaborate innovation management and the ability to be able to notice trends early and to create innovations. With this innovation behaviour the expert in explosion protection, based in Waldenburg, made it to the list of the 100 most innovative medium-sized companies and has been awarded the seal of quality “Top 100” by the mentor of Top 100, Prof. Dr. h.c. Lothar Späth, former State Premier of Baden-Württemberg.
It is important to the company to understand customers’ wishes and to translate them successfully into products. “You need the courage to try things out and to be open to suggestions that are not shown directly on the development-roadmap or promise high sales revenues from the start”, knows Dr. Peter Völker, management board member of R. STAHL, responsible for technology and innovations. He accepted the award “Top 100” together with the head of the development department, Johannes Rückgauer. Another essential feature is the work in association committees and standards committees and constant preoccupation with future-oriented topics like hydrogen technology or electric mobility.
“R. STAHL approaches these trend topics from the explosion-protection point of view”, explains Rückgauer. Ideas come about which then are evaluated; if they are marketable, the company will start product development. Customer’s benefit is always in the focus. Furthermore, the company maintains close co-operation with universities and research institutes – a good source for ideas and an important feature for recruiting young engineers.
Thanks to the stringent innovation management, R. STAHL also succeeded in becoming the market leader for system solutions in electrical explosion protection. Besides an extensive product spectrum, the competence to integrate different components to one solution is the basis for customer-specific system solutions. The company established extensive engineering know-how, with which customers are accompanied and supported already during the planning stages. That way an ideal technical and economical solution can be found.
